Third Time’s the Charm

Finding Home in Northeast North Dakota

When you ask him what brought him to Northeast North Dakota, Tim Moeri will tell you it’s been a journey — one that led him not just to a place, but to people. Originally from Grafton, he has now returned to North Dakota for the third time, and this time, it feels exactly where he’s meant to be.

Walsh County, and Grafton in particular, has become the backdrop for some of Tim’s biggest blessings. He found the opportunity to reunite with his parents and, ultimately, to meet his wife. “Third time’s a charm,” he says with a smile, and you can tell he means it. This season of life in Northeast North Dakota is different. It’s rooted.

Tim and Jenn Moeri

North Dakota, like anywhere, has its ups and downs. The winters can be harsh and unforgiving, but in his eyes, every other season more than makes up for it. Tim lights up when he talks about summertime and the months that follow: camping trips, exploring the lake areas, and late summer nights around a fire with the people he loves. Those slow, golden evenings spent under big skies have become some of his favorite memories.

But ask Tim what truly keeps him here, and his answer comes quickly: the people. The fellowship in this community is what he treasures most. “They’re genuine, they’re loving, and they’re so kind,” he says. There is a shared culture and a deep sense of family values that shape everyday life. Neighbors look out for each other. Friends become family. Faith runs quietly but powerfully through conversations, community events, and the way people show up for one another. “God is working in our communities,” he says, “and I’m blessed to be a part of it.”

That sense of calling extends into his work. As the owner of Moeri Photography and MP Entertainment, Tim has found a unique way to serve and celebrate the region. Seeing a need for more options and diversity in local events, he began offering photo booth rentals, an activity that is fun, engaging, and different for gatherings, weddings, and community celebrations. It’s been a welcome addition.

He and his wife, Jenn also own a photography studio in a special place: one of the local churches in Grafton. There they capture milestones—family portraits, smiling children, old friends reunited, and new faces who now call this community home. For him, the best part of doing business in Northeast North Dakota is simple: “The community is like family.” He loves documenting memories for people he’s known for years, as well as for newcomers who are just beginning their own stories here.

From Illinois to North Dakota and back again, more than once, his path has woven through distance and return, searching and settling. Today, in Walsh County, Tim has found what he was looking for: faith, family, fellowship, and a community that feels like home. And in true Real. Good. Northeast North Dakota fashion, he’s not just living here; he’s investing in the people and moments that make this place unforgettable.
